Gordon is an avid runner and has participated in numerous races throughout the central states including the Boston marathon. He loves to hike in the mountains and especially likes to “bag 14-ers” (climb those mountains over 14,000 feet). Barkley Heuser is a Colorado native, and has lived in Colorado Springs for over 59 years. He has three brothers, one of whom is his partner, and one sister. He’s practiced law for 35 years in his hometown.
Barkley believes in giving straight-forward advice to his clients and not hiding the truth under a barrage of fancy legal terms. Working with a client who really understands the pros and cons of his case makes Barkley feel he is doing his job. He enjoys helping injured people and solving their problems.
Barkley and his wife are active in their church. His other interests include: reading, walking, kayaking and playing with his two wiener dogs, Bob and Izzy.
Benjamin Paul Gifford, Attorney

Benjamin Gifford is a trial-tested attorney with significant experience. Prior to joining Heuser & Heuser, LLP, Ben worked for the offices of LeHouillier & Associates where he successfully tried professional malpractice and auto accident cases. Ben also spent time as a prosecutor for the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office in Colorado Springs, where he successfully tried multiple cases for crimes ranging from Driving Under the Influence to Domestic Violence. Now with Heuser & Heuser, LLP, Ben has been lead counsel on hundreds of personal injury matters and has been counsel of record through multiple trials. In his first personal injury trial, Ben successfully tried an auto accident case in Denver’s District Court. The outcome was significant and published in the Jury Verdict Reporter of Colorado, Volume 31, Number 1. Since that trial, Ben has continued to excel in and outside of the Courtroom. He is widely considered one of the most aggressive and dedicated up-and-coming lawyers in Colorado.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Ben served for 8 years in the Unites States Marine Corps as an infantry Platoon and Company Commander with 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment out of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. During his time in the Marine Corps, Ben was honored to serve during three combat tours in both Iraq and Afghanistan and was the recipient of numerous personal and unit awards.
Ben graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 2000 where he played division one baseball and studied Political Science. Beginning in 2008, and after his service in the Marine Corps, Ben attended Pepperdine University School of Law graduating in 2011. Ben’s personal interests include spending time with his family, mountain biking, fishing, Colorado Rockies baseball and Denver Broncos football. Ben now brings his wealth of life experience and knowledge to serve your legal needs.
Patrick R. Salt

Mr. Salt has resided in Colorado Springs since 1969 when his father retired from the military and his family relocated to Colorado Springs. Before changing careers and going to law school, Pat taught and coached at local high schools.
Pat as an active trial attorney since 1983, Pat has tried cases in several counties throughout Colorado. Additionally, Pat is a part time Municipal Court Judge for The City of Colorado Springs.
Pat serving the community of Colorado Springs is important to Pat and his family. Pat has been a youth basketball coach and Boy Scout leader. He has served on The Board of Directors for Colorado Springs Teen Court and presently serves on The Board of Directors for The Air Academy School District 20 Foundation. His wife is formerly The CEO of Easter Seals Southern Colorado, and his father was a County Commissioner for six years. Pat enjoys spending time with his family and participates in sporting activities, particular golf.
Pat has been a representative for The El Paso County Bar Assocation to the Colorado Bar Association and formerly was a Trustee to The Board of Directors for the El Paso County Bar Association. Carla Augenstein, Paralegal
Carla Augenstein brings 25 years of experience in the legal field to the Heuser & Heuser law firm. She first worked in a personal injury law firm in Beverly Hills, CA, before moving her family to Colorado to raise her two children, Katie and Collin. She believes Colorado is a better place to raise her family and has been an esteemed paralegal at Heuser & Heuser for 18 years.
Carla works closely with clients from case opening to settlement. She deals with all aspects of a case, ensuring that each client receives the individual attention he or she deserves. Carla has a keen attention to detail and the ability to resolve difficult issues. She enjoys working with people and regularly contacts adjusters, medical offices, and attorneys during her efforts to help clients.
When not at work, Carla enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, and eight grandchildren. She is an avid runner and can frequently be seen on one of the many wonderful trails around town. She is also the proud caretaker of Indie, the office pup.
