All lanes of southbound I-25 south of Bijou were closed for five hours following a crash on Feb. 8. It took crews that long to clean up the debris of an accident involving a semi-truck carrying hay.
The crash happened around 5 p.m. that Wednesday.
The semi was hauling hay, which hit another car after falling from the truck. Some gasoline was also spilled from the 18-wheeler.
Traffic was extremely slow in both directions while police and emergency personnel were on scene.
There were no injuries in the wreck.
After investigating the cause of the accident, police ticketed the 18-wheeler’s driver for careless driving in relation to speed.
“I personally think the speed limit is too high through that area. I just feel like it could go down a bit from Bijou down to Tejon,” said Gay Mayles.
“The lanes getting smaller, less lanes, I think that’s what the problem is,” said Joey Bloomquist.
This is the third major accident in the same area within the last few months.
