According to a crash report, at approximately 6:28 a.m. on Monday, April 13, the Colorado Springs Police Department received notification of a crash where Chelton Road and Fountain Boulevard intersect.
Truck and Motorcycle Collide
Responding officers observed that a Kawasaki motorcycle and a Chevrolet Silverado had collided. An investigation revealed that the pickup truck was attempting a left turn on northbound Chelton Road from eastbound Fountain Boulevard. At the same time, a motorcycle was proceeding westbound on Fountain Boulevard, and it collided with the Silverado’s front end.
Loss of Life Occurs
The motorcyclist did not survive the impact, even though the individual was reportedly wearing both a helmet and protective clothing. The El Paso County Coroner will conduct an autopsy. Officers initially determined that reckless driving was not a factor in the crash. The intersection remained closed until 9:50 a.m. so that investigators could perform their duties.
Although the investigation into this particular accident is ongoing, Colorado state law does provide injured people, and survivors of those killed, with an opportunity to seek redress in the state’s civil courts. When negligent conduct is reasonably asserted as the cause of a crash, it is possible to seek compensation for a variety of losses, including medical expenses, pain and suffering, and lost wages. It is possible for survivors to seek compensation for burial expenses and loss of companionship.
