Police cited a motorist following a Colorado Springs accident that seriously injured a pedestrian on Thursday, June 18.

Motorist Attempts Left Turn

At 8:39 a.m., the CSPD communications center received a call regarding an auto/pedestrian accident where Union Boulevard and Lelaray Street intersect. A preliminary investigation by responding officers suggested that a 2008 white Jeep Commander allegedly failed to yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian in a cross walk at the intersection. The police report suggests that the motorist behind the wheel of the Jeep was attempting a left turn at the time.

Pedestrian Suffers Neck Injury

A 65-year-old male pedestrian subsequently required transport to Memorial Central Hospital for medical treatment. The police report further states that the man suffered a serious neck fracture, and that he is in stable condition.

The adult female motorist received a citation for Failure to Yield Right-Of-Way to Pedestrian.

Although the investigation into this particular pedestrian accident is ongoing, Colorado state law does provide an injured person with a means of redress in the state’s civil courts. It is often possible for a person to seek compensation for unpaid medical expenses, pain-and-suffering and lost wages.
