Colorado Springs Accident Lawyers Discuss Rollover Accident on Powers Boulevard

Police say that alleged distracted driving may have caused an accident on Powers Boulevard, south of Carefree Circle North. Dispatchers sent officers to the accident scene at approximately 8:25 p.m. on August 18.

Vehicle Rolls Over

The police report states that a 27-year-old female motorist from Colorado Springs allegedly lost control of her southbound vehicle which initially careened from left to right. Investigating officers believe that she then over-corrected, causing the vehicle to veer back to the left and into another vehicle. Next, her vehicle went back to the right and rolled over.

Two Individuals Taken to Hospital

Emergency personnel transported the motorist and an adult male passenger to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. No injuries occurred in the other vehicle.

Careless Driving Citation

Law enforcement cited the motorist for careless driving involving injury, a class one misdemeanor offense. In the aftermath of the accident, authorities closed the southbound lanes of Powers Boulevard until about 10 p.m.

Although the investigation into this particular accident is ongoing, it is possible for victims of certain crashes to seek compensation when it is reasonable to claim that negligent conduct contributed to the injuries. Careless driving is often considered evidence of negligence. Injured victims often seek monetary damages for unpaid medical expenses, lost wages and pain-and-suffering.
