Colorado Springs Car Accident Lawyers Discuss Multi-vehicle Accident Involving Squad Car

According to a police report, a Colorado Springs squad car was one of four vehicles involved in a Powers Boulevard accident on August 20 at approximately 7:10 a.m.

Chain Reaction Collision

The officer in the marked cruiser was waiting to turn east on Barnes Road from the left turn lane of southbound Powers Boulevard. A vehicle operated by an alleged impaired driver hit a pickup truck behind the squad car, pushing it into the officer’s vehicle. A fourth vehicle was also involved in the collision. Authorities reported that all vehicles sustained moderate to severe damage.

Four People Injured

Emergency personnel transported three motorists and one passenger to area hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities closed westbound Barnes Road and the southbound left turn lanes of Powers Boulevard until about 8:55 a.m.

Alleged Impaired Driving

The allegedly impaired driver received a number of traffic citations, including one for driving under the influence of drugs. Although the investigation into this particular accident is in its earliest stages, victims of negligent conduct by other motorists can seek compensation in the states civil courts. In many cases, injured victims seek monetary damages for unpaid medical expenses, pain-and-suffering and possible lost wages.
