Colorado Springs, CO – Heuser & Heuser, L.L.P. is proud to support the 2026 Southern Colorado Kidney Walk as a sponsor of this year’s event, taking place Sunday, September 27, 2026, at Memorial Park in Colorado Springs.
Hosted by the National Kidney Foundation, the annual event brings the Southern Colorado community together to raise awareness and funds for kidney disease research, education, early detection, and patient support.
The event is particularly meaningful to Heuser & Heuser founding partner Gordon Heuser, who has experienced the life-changing impact of kidney disease firsthand.
What Is the Southern Colorado Kidney Walk?
The Southern Colorado Kidney Walk is an annual community event organized by the National Kidney Foundation. The 2026 walk will help support efforts focused on kidney disease research, earlier diagnosis, improved treatment options, and resources for individuals and families affected by kidney disease.
Registration and check-in for this year’s event begin at 8:30 a.m., with the two-mile walk scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Park in Colorado Springs.
Kidney disease continues to affect millions of Americans. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, chronic kidney disease affects more than 1 in 7 U.S. adults, or an estimated 35.5 million people.
Perhaps even more concerning, approximately 9 in 10 adults with chronic kidney disease do not know they have it. Because early-stage kidney disease often produces few or no noticeable symptoms, awareness, education, and early screening are especially important.
The Kidney Walk provides an opportunity for individuals, families, businesses, and community organizations to come together around this important health issue while supporting resources that benefit people throughout Southern Colorado.
Why This Cause Matters to Heuser & Heuser
For Heuser & Heuser, supporting the Southern Colorado Kidney Walk is about more than sponsoring a community event. The firm recognizes the importance of investing in causes that directly affect local families and neighbors.
Funds raised through the Southern Colorado Kidney Walk remain in Southern Colorado, helping support kidney disease research, education, awareness, and resources for people living with kidney disease in the region. The event gives members of the community an opportunity to make a difference close to home.
The cause also holds a deeply personal significance for founding partner Gordon Heuser. Heuser is a kidney transplant recipient, and his brother donated the kidney that ultimately saved his life. His personal experience has given him a unique understanding of the importance of kidney health, organ donation, and the support available to individuals and families facing kidney disease.
In a 2026 interview with KDZA, Heuser spoke about the local impact of the Kidney Walk:
“One of the important things you need to realize is all the money raised here stays in Southern Colorado, to help all those people who are afflicted with kidney disease. It’s going to help your neighbors, your friends, and maybe even your family. So that’s the best part about the walk here in Colorado Springs.”

Through its sponsorship, Heuser & Heuser hopes to help raise awareness of kidney disease and encourage members of the Southern Colorado community to participate in an event that has a meaningful local impact.
