Q: Are the Heusers brothers?
A: Yes. Heuser & Heuser was founded in 1996 by brothers Gordon Heuser and Barkley Heuser, both born and raised in Colorado Springs. Brennan Heuser, Gordon’s nephew and the son of the late Barkley Heuser, is also a partner and represents the second generation of the family at the firm.
If you have called our office or met our team, there is a good chance you have wondered about the name on the door. It is one of the questions we hear most often: are the Heusers brothers? The answer is yes. And the story goes back generations, right here in Colorado Springs.
Gordon and Barkley: Where It Began
Heuser & Heuser was founded in 1996 by two brothers, Gordon Heuser and Barkley Heuser. Both were born and raised in Colorado Springs. They built their lives here, raised their families here, and decided to build a law practice here too. Their goal was straightforward. They wanted injured people across Southern Colorado to have a place to turn that treated them with honesty, respect, and genuine care.
Gordon continues to lead the firm today, drawing on more than four decades of practice in Colorado courts. Barkley, who passed away in 2024, helped shape the firm in its early years and set the tone for the work we still do.

Brennan Heuser is also a Partner at the firm, and yes, he is family. Brennan is Gordon’s nephew and the son of the late Barkley Heuser. A Colorado Springs native and a combat veteran, Brennan carries the same commitment to service that has always defined this family. He helps guide the firm’s work for clients throughout the region and represents the second generation of Heusers to stand behind that name.
For our clients, that continuity means something. The family that started this firm is still the family running it.
A Family with Deep Roots in the Springs
Gordon and Barkley were not the only Heusers raised in Colorado Springs. Their siblings, Charles, Sara, and David Heuser, grew up alongside them in the same community we serve today. The Heuser family has called Colorado Springs home for multiple generations, and those roots run deep through this city and the people in it.
That history is a big part of who we are. We are not a firm that moved into town. We are local, born and raised, and we know the community because it is ours.
