COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado—Heuser & Heuser LLP is excited to announce the launch of the Practical Futures Scholarship.
This unique opportunity is for Southern Colorado residents (south of Denver) either enlisting in the military or pursuing a trade school education.
The scholarship’s goal is simple but important: supporting practical career choices with clear, well-thought-out plans for a future.
“We want to support people making real, practical plans for their future,” said Brennan D. Heuser, Esq., Partner at Heuser & Heuser LLP. “Whether it’s gaining life skills through military service or getting trained in a trade, we’re here to help turn those plans into real opportunities. We want to support those people who typically are overlooked in scholarships.”
Scholarship Details
- Submission Period: Opens March 10, 2025, and ends June 21, 2025.
- Eligibility: Open to Southern Colorado residents who are either enlisting in the military or planning to attend (or are already attending) a trade school. Candidates must provide proof of enlistment in the military, such as a signed contract, pending basic training, or acceptance/enrollment in a trade school, including individuals already enrolled.
- Awards:
- 1st place: $3,000
- 2nd place: $2,000
- 3rd place: $1,000
Submission Requirements
We seek authentic, practical submissions clearly outlining how your decision to pursue a trade or military enlistment will strategically support and advance your future career and life goals.
- Submissions must be individual efforts; authenticity is essential. Don’t submit something you think an academic board would want to hear. We want honesty and directness.
- Essays, PowerPoint presentations, detailed outlines, and videos are accepted formats. You may submit multiple formats within one application.
- There are no length limitations, but clarity of purpose, practicality, and conciseness are highly valued.
- Submissions must be original and not AI-generated. We will conduct an AI screening.
- Scholarships will be awarded solely based on the quality, practicality, and clarity of your plan. Writing ability is not judged; the emphasis is on strategic, long-term, practical planning. End goals like having steady pay, learning a new skill, supporting a family are valid examples.

Use of Funds
Scholarship funds will be awarded directly to the winners without any conditions on usage.
Winner Announcement
Winners will be announced by July 7, 2025. Heuser & Heuser will schedule a meet-and-greet with scholarship winners by August 1, 2025, for photos and interviews to celebrate their achievements.
