At Heuser & Heuser, L.L.P., we believe that continuing education or joining the military creates smarter, more capable, and disciplined members of our society which, in turn, aids the community at large. However, we understand that finances can play a big role in whether or not a young person gets the opportunity to pursue higher education.
That’s why our firm decided to create the Heuser Law Scholarship. While education does come with a price, we strongly believe that every student should have the chance to better themselves. We want to help provide that chance by awarding FIVE $1,000 scholarships to Colorado high school seniors who will be attending college, trade school, or joining the military.
In order to apply, please submit a hard-copy essay, no longer than 1,000 words, that answers the following question:
What is one thing you would change about your hometown? In your essay, please describe why and how you would change it, and how you would maintain the change you wish to see in your hometown.
As a local personal injury firm, Heuser & Heuser cares about the Colorado Springs community and the people in it. That means everyone, including the youngest members of our community. We want to know how you would make our town better.

Heuser & Heuser, L.L.P. is devoted to serving the people of Colorado Springs and the surrounding areas. We give individuals who have been victims of injury a voice by fighting for their legal interests and helping them obtain the compensation they need to recover and move forward. Our personal injury attorneys and the entire staff are passionate about helping others. The Heuser Scholarship is a way we can give back to the young people that make up our great community. It’s our pleasure to help 5 deserving students in their academic or military endeavors.
Since 2003, The Home Front Cares has raised more than $8.5 million to pay essential life expenses like rent and utilities for Colorado veterans and military families. The organization acts fast, often within 24 hours, because their grants are often the “last stand” that saves a veteran from eviction or keeps the heat on for a military family. Some 75 percent of their clients are disabled, and 70 percent have children to support. THFC relies almost entirely on donations, and money raised in Colorado stays in Colorado.
Kidpower of Colorado is the local center of Kidpower Teenpower Fullpower International, a nonprofit global leader in personal safety and violence prevention education since 1989. The Colorado Center was established in 1994 to provide comprehensive safety education skills to children ages 3-18 and their families. Kidpower’s mission is to teach young people personal safety and confidence-building skills to reduce their risk of abduction, assault and emotional, physical and sexual abuse. Our programs are known worldwide for being positive, practical, safe and age-appropriate.
Child passenger safety has become one of our missions and by partnering with the Colorado Springs Police Department, Safe Kids, and the COPP program (Child Occupant Protection Program) we can help make a difference in decreasing preventable injuries to the children of our community. With 4 out of 5 car seats not properly installed or used correctly, we urge you to see a certified technician for help. Proper fit and good fit are important for effective occupant restraint use as this will decrease your child’s chances of serious injury or death in a traffic accident by 70%. This is a free service and you can check for a technician in your area by visiting the following websites:
