A Colorado Springs police report details a traffic accident involving a motorcycle and a car that occurred at approximately 11:43 p.m. on Friday, April 17. The driver of the car now faces multiple charges, including DUI.

Car Leaves Parking Lot

The initial investigation determined that the car exited a parking lot along North Academy Boulevard, north of Vickers Drive. As the car pulled out of the lot, it allegedly struck the motorcycle. Authorities believe that the driver of the car started leave the scene, although her vehicle subsequently careened into a nearby telephone pole.

Motorcyclist Injured

The male motorcyclist required transport to Memorial Hospital North. His injuries were initially described as serious but not life-threatening. It was necessary to close Academy Boulevard between Vickers Drive and Lehman Drive. At 7 a.m. the next morning, the roadway was once again open to thru traffic.

Multiple Charges Filed

On Saturday, April 18, an updated police report reflected the fact that the 23-year-old driver of the car now faces multiple charges. These charges included DUI, vehicular assault, making a prohibited left turn and hit-and-run involving serious bodily injury. The motorist was subsequently booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.
